The Status Bar

The status bar at the bottom of the Pattern Generator interface provides real-time feedback on the application’s current state, offering insights both when idle and during pattern generation.

When Idle

In its idle state, the status bar displays Ready or provides statistics about the last generated pattern. Notably, the item count is highlighted, revealing the number of items that were successfully placed on the canvas based on your configurations. This metric is particularly valuable as it indicates the efficiency and feasibility of the specified settings.

The status bar also reports on the size range of the items placed, showcasing the smallest and largest dimensions achieved in the pattern. For designs utilizing a radius transition (refer to Radius Transition), the status bar informs you whether the pattern was able to incorporate the full spectrum of specified radii, or if limitations restricted the range of sizes that could be implemented.

When Generating

During the pattern generation phase, the status area becomes even more dynamic, detailing the progress of the current operation. A progress bar visually represents the advancement of the generation process, offering an intuitive glance at how much work remains. Due to the algorithm’s initial calculations, generation may start at a slower pace and accelerate as the process unfolds.

A Cancel button appears towards the end of the status bar, allowing you to halt the generation process at any point. It’s important to note that there might be a brief delay—from a few seconds to about a minute—between clicking the Cancel button and the complete cessation of the operation, as the system finalizes the interruption.
